  23. Well that may be fine for #10 envelopes, but for other standard sizes, this
  24. isn't the case.

  26. For example, select a DL-sized envelope as the page size and type an
  27. address into the lower left-hand portion.

  29. In the print preferences section, you'll notice there's no page size
  30. available for DL. There's Comm10, A4, and a few others, but not many at all
  31. when you have elected to use a Postscript output device. Even IFF-ILBM has a
  32. Custom option to set whatever size you please, but not for Postscript.

  34. Selecting A4 here, with landscape orientation, and putting the envelope into
  35. the printer according to the manufacturer's specification results in an
  36. envelope with around a centimetre of the left-hand part of the address on
  37. the extreme right of the envelope, and the rest well and truly off the page.
  38. Selecting sizes other than A4 here, such as Comm10 etc., produces mixed
  39. results--some result in a blank envelope (presumably the address was printed
  40. somewhere out of the page bounds) and the address printed in other
  41. unsuitable areas of the envelope.

  43. In short, unless I can specify an exact media size, in this case a DL
  44. envelope, or at the very least have more flexible control in the placement
  45. of the output onto the media such as ProPage offers, Pagestream is
  46. unsuitable for printing to quite a lot of different media sizes--it is
  47. restricted to the half-dozen or so pre-defined sizes in the print
  48. preferences requester if using Postscript.

  50. Ideally, for starters there needs to be a Custom option in the page size
  51. popup in Print Preferences for Postscript printers. This is essential so
  52. Pagestream won't try to print beyond the physical page boundaries. Secondly,
  53. there needs to be better control for placement of the printed page onto the
  54. physical page. Sometimes I may wish to output a business card image onto an
  55. A4 page along the left hand edge to allow room for handwritten notes or for
  56. doing further print passes onto the same page, or in the case of doing
  57. run-outs to bromide I might prefer to print in only a small area at the
  58. start of the roll to save costs.

  60. Please, please consider doing some more work in this area. ProPage has been
  61. doing it for years...
